Dear Tribal Leader:
I write to provide you an update on the 22nd U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Annual Tribal Budget Consultation (ATBC). Due to the COVID-19 national emergency and concerns around mass gatherings, this year’s HHS Annual Tribal Budget Consultation will be in writing with technical assistance given virtually.
The virtual session will be held the afternoon of April 8th, from 1:00 PM ET – 4:00 PM ET. The three hour session will provide Tribal leaders with an in-depth presentation by Office of the Assistant Secretary for Financial Resources (ASFR) on the HHS budget and process. There will be a roundtable with HHS Operating Division representatives where Tribal leaders will be able to ask questions about the budget and the best way to provide written testimony on the Department’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 budget request.

Written Testimony should now be submitted by Friday, May 1, 2020. Testimony can be emailed to consultation@hhs.gov. Since this year’s consultation session will be different than previous years, we recommend that Tribes include an executive summary, along with their written testimony.
