Third Annual Conference on Native American Nutrition October 2-5
Join us for this annual conference that brings together tribal officials, researchers, practitioners, and others to discuss the current state of Indigenous and academic scientific knowledge about Native nutrition and food science, and identify new areas of work.
Registration fee
Registration will be available online through September 17. Registration includes attendance at all sessions and most meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner on October 3, breakfast and lunch on October 4, and breakfast on October 5.
- Early bird: $300, plus processing fees (through July 30)
- Standard fee: $350, plus processing fees
Session topics at this year’s conference will include:
- Nutrition across the lifecycle
- Intergenerational learning about food and nutrition
- Learning from Indigenous communities around the world
- Linking agriculture to nutrition
- Recovering from historical trauma
The conference will also include the following optional half-day workshops on October 2:
- “Native Infusion: Reclaiming Ancestral Beverages”
- “Dream of Wild Health – Youth Garden Tour”
- “Preparing Healthy Traditional Food with the Sioux Chef”
- “Foraging for Native Edible Plants”
- “Indigenous Wellness: Ancestral Food Ways, Indigenizing Fitness and Movement, and the Inter-connectedness of Wellness, Culture, and Indigenous Language”

Directions
Mystic Lake Center is 25 miles from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and southwest of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Take Highway 169 to Mystic Lake Drive NW. Stay in the left two lanes (do not take the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel exit). At the stoplight, take a right onto Dakotah Parkway, which will take you under an overpass. Drive until you reach a roundabout, and take the third exit off of the roundabout onto Mystic Center Drive. Park in the “Self-Park” lot near Mystic Lake Center.
If you are staying at the hotel, take Highway 169 to Mystic Lake Drive NW. Free valet and self-parking is available to all conference attendees.
Hotel
A block of hotel rooms at Mystic Lake has been reserved for conference attendees. Rooms will be available for $135 per night. The deadline for booking a room in this reserved block is September 12.Reservations can be made by calling the hotel at 952-445-9000 or 800-262-7799 and identifying yourself as a participant of the Native American Nutrition Conference event.

Abstracts
The conference planning committee is seeking abstracts for poster and oral presentations. Abstracts are due by 5 p.m. (central) on June 29.
Arts and crafts vendors
We are seeking Native arts, crafts and food vendors who are interested in having a booth at the conference. If you are interested in having a booth, please email James at james@stagetimeproductions.com.

Refunds
